Photos from Many Years Along the North Shore
I have been cruising the Canadian North Shore of Lake Superior since the early 1990s. Over the years, I have taken thousands of photos and videos. At the end of each trip, I pour through the hundreds new photos and select the best and most representative. I do some cropping and minor tweaking to each one before it is becomes a “keeper”.
I use Paint Shop Pro as my photo editor. After cropping an image, I usually do a histogram adjustment, contrast enhancement and a little color saturation boost. Otherwise, I don’t alter anything on the image.
Sometimes a “keeper” might not be as good as I would like. This is usually because it is a unique shot that I happened upon and had to get the best I could before it disappeared. For example, if a moose comes around the corner, I don’t have time to get all the setting perfect. I shoot what I can get before the chance is gone and sort it out later.
